Posted on

West Manggarai Regency Tourism Agency, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), with the help of Swiss Contack, conducted a survey among tourists about their favorite tourist destination in NTT. Here are the top five tourist spots selected by tourists, as mentioned by Travellounge Magazine:

1. Komodo Island

Komodo Island consists of three main islands: Komodo Island, Rinca Island and Padar Island, which together reach a width of 1,817 square kilometers. During your pursuit in the rain forests and your exploration on gigantic mountains, you can encounter horses, wild boars, various types of monkeys, wild buffaloes, deers and other animals. Komodo Island is also home to rich ocean treasures: beautiful corals and crystal blue ocean.

Professional divers are confident that the waters of Komodo are one of the best dive sites in the world. If you go to the west of the island, you can sunbathe on the beach, which is known as the pink beach because it is covered with pink sand particles.

2. Labuan Bajo

The moment you set foot in the capital of West Manggarai regency, you will encounter a young and growing city. Pede Beach, which is located on the shoreline of the city beach, is a favorite recreation object for locals on weekends. The beach hosts the culmination of the Sail Komodo event.

3. Stone Mirror Cave

The stone cave east of Komodo Airport houses natural caves with fascinating stalactites that keep growing. When the sky is clear, sunlight will enter through the hole at the top of the cave, bounce off the stone walls, which will then reflect the sun’s rays to other areas of the cave like a mirror. In the cave, visitors can discover black spiders, bats and sometimes small snakes.

4. Rami reservoir waterfall

You will need to drive or rent a 4WD car if you want to reach the natural tourist spot located in Mbelling forest area as the car will have to go through rough hilly paths with sharp turns, climbs and crossroads.

As soon as you arrive, you can wet your face and body with water or swim if you can stand the cold water.

5. Liang Ndara Cul Village

The village is located in Sano Nggoang subdistrict, 20 kilometers from Labuan Bajo city. You will need 45 minutes to drive from Labuan Bajo to this village.

Liang Ndara village is the entrance to Mbelling forest area which preserves a rich and beautiful variety of flora and fauna. The village is famous for caci, a traditional dance of the local Manggarai. Caci showcases a contest of agility between two grown men who whip and fend off their opponent in turn.
