AMPONTOONS.COM, JAKARTA – After the PDIP announced Ganjar Pranowo as its presidential candidate on Friday (21/4/2023), the Hanura party became one of the political parties expressing their support for the governor of Central Java in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Now it is the turn of the Hanura wing organization, the People’s Conscience Young Movement (Gema Hanura) to declare its support for the head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan to become a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar.
Plt Ketum Gema Hanura Edy Kewoy said the reason for the support was because Budi Gunawan was a figure who had intellectual and political networks and had a track record.
“In our opinion, Pak Budi Gunawan is the right and appropriate figure to accompany Pak Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election.
His intellectual capacity, political network and national engagement have been tested,” Plt Ketum Gema Hanura Edy Kewoy told reporters on Sunday (7/5/2023).

Edy said it was deemed necessary for Ganjar to be accompanied by a knowledgeable and insightful figure like Budi Gunawan, who has a background as a high-ranking national police officer, a BIN official. Also, it is known that Budi Gunawan is a former aide to the fifth president of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri.
However, Edy realized that from a mechanism it would be the party that determined the pairs of candidates. Even so, she hopes the aspirations they convey can be used as material for evaluation and consideration by policy stakeholders.
“As part of the democratic effort, it is time for an intelligent, insightful and experienced figure like Mr. Budi Gunawan to step forward to cooperate or accompany Mr. Ganjar Pranowo, the chances of winning are definitely high,” Edy said.
