AMPONTOONS.COM, JAKARTA – The Palace, through Presidential Cabinet Chief Moeldoko, admitted it could not answer the question about the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle after Communications and Information Minister Johnny G Plate became a suspect in a corruption case in the construction of a transceiver at the base of the station tower (BTS).
“We will just wait for developments,” Moeldoko told the National Awakening Museum, Jakarta, on Monday (5/22/2023).
Moeldoko said the alleged BTS procurement corruption case that dragged down Plate was a legal issue and not a political one.
He asked the audience to understand the problem and not get involved in various problems that cannot be explained.
“This is a purely legal issue, so I hope all people will understand the situation and not be trapped by various issues that are not true, which are not good for maintaining the current situation,” he said.

The president, Moeldoko said, firmly stated that the BTS procurement case was purely a legal matter and that the Attorney General’s Office would handle it professionally and openly.
“Already president conceal explaining that this is a purely legal issue, we do not need to comment on it and continue to rely on the professionalism of the Public Prosecutor’s Office”, he concluded.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Menkoplhukam Mahfud Md as interim minister (Plt) of communication and information (Menkominfo).
Mahfud was appointed interim Menkominfo to replace Johnny Plate, who was named a suspect by the Attorney General’s Office for alleged corruption in the construction of the tower’s transceiver station (BTS).
“The interim minister is the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs,” Jokowi said before departing for Japan, at Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Base on Friday (19/5/2023).

The president said the government highly respects the legal process that applies to Johnny Plate, who is also a NasDem politician.
“Yes, we respect the legal process,” Jokowi said.
The president stressed that the Attorney General’s Office will be professional in handling the case. The Attorney General’s Office will openly disclose the case that would have cost the state Rp. 8 trillion.
“What is clear is that the Attorney General’s Office is resolutely professional and open to anything related to this case,” he said.
