Plataran Bromo – The good life

Posted on

East Java, which is known for some of the most beautiful highland scenery in Indonesia, has always had very few options for luxury accommodation. It is no coincidence that the opening of the Plataran Resort in Bromo was one of the most awaited novelties.

I have stayed here before during the first year of their opening and was very happy with the whole experience. But I’m curious to see how things have evolved after a while.

Good news: it’s gotten better!

After walking the winding uphill road, I arrived at its majestic entrance hall. Impeccable modern structure with clear glass blends beautifully with its warm yellow lights.

Check-in was smooth, with me sipping my warm welcome tea while the staff took care of all my belongings.

From the foyer, an elevator took us to the top floor, connected to a hill that houses several buildings. This is the signature experience of Plataran Bromo, several independent mountain lodge establishments, each with its own common living room and private accommodation. It is perfect for family or people who appreciate meeting other travelers in a welcoming environment.

We settled into our room, compact but elegantly designed space with the best services you can find in this area.

There is generally little activity in the Bromo areas making it difficult to justify staying beyond 1 night to see the sunrise the next day. This changes with Plataran Bromo.

Their restaurant is first class; not only for great Indonesian food, but also for their signature steamboat soup, a joyous encounter given the cold mountain weather. Their private hill is home to beautiful plantings and a beautiful sunset spot. Their Padma Spa is the best you can get and the amazing view from the spa deck is just amazing.

Overall, this is a must stay experience in Bromo.
