AMPONTOONS.COM, JAKARTA – Volunteers who are members of Srikandi Ganjar Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) are again doing environmental activities by planting sea pandanus at Pelangi Beach, Kretek District, Bantul Regency, DIY, on Friday (19/5/2023).
Together with the millennial women, this volunteer who supports Ganjar also carried out a beach cleaning action.
“Here we are from the millennial circle and there are also several visitors who participated in planting on this beach,” said Srikandi Ganjar DIY Region Coordinator, Herrawati.
Herra explained that the sea pandanus has a very useful ecological function.
These include resisting abrasion and erosion, reducing the impact of tides on land ecosystems, and mitigating natural disasters such as tsunamis.
Furthermore, this plant also has its benefits for marine life, especially turtles.
This is because the serrations of sea pandanus leaves are a natural protector of turtle eggs from the threat of various predators.
Therefore, said Herra, the presence of sea pandanus is very important to maintain the balance of nature in and around coastal areas. Also, the benefits can be felt by the local community.
“Because we believe that if we are going to protect nature, then nature will protect us,” Herra said.
Furthermore, Herra said that Srikandi Ganjar DIY and the beach visitors were very happy that they could protect the natural ecosystem by planting sea pandanus and cleaning the beach.
Herra also hopes that there will be many benefits for the community in the future through the positive activities of Srikandi Ganjar DIY. Especially for millennial women.
“Surely Srikandi Ganjar DIY will carry out activities that can further develop the potential that exists in women. In particular, we will also prioritize social activities like this,” she explained.
