AMPONTOONS.COM, JAKARTA – The election event of 2024 is coming. A number of regional leaders in Indonesia are pledged to step down as they will contest elections for legislative candidates (calegs) in the 2024 election.
As known, the stages of presenting the conditions for support for the candidacy for the legislature (bacaleg) to the Council of Regional Representatives (DPD) as well as to the DPRD and the RI DPR have already begun.
Registration for the nomination of candidates will take place from 1 May to 14 May 2023.
Regional heads or regional representatives who wish to run for the legislature in the 2024 election are required to resign their positions. Including, ASN, TNI, Polri, directors and other posts.

Because, if the General Election Commission (KPU) does not officially resign, it is certain that it will be aborted.
Indonesian KPU Implementation Technical Division Coordinator Idham Holik pointed out that according to General Election Commission (PKPU) regulation number 10 of 2023 regarding the nomination of RI DPR, Provincial and Regency/City DPRD members, Regional leaders (Kada) who wish to participate in Pileg 2024 are required to leave their positions. .
“This is based on the regulation of the General Election Commission (PKPU) number 10 of 2023 concerning the candidacy of members of the DPRD RI, provincial and regent/municipal of the DPR. It is governed by article 12, article 14 and article 18 Regents, Deputy Regents and Mayors and Governors. TNI./Polri, ASN must also step down,” Idham Holik stressed, on Monday (1/5/2023).
According to the internship schedule, the KPU began opening candidate registration stages for RI DPR members on Monday (05/01/2023).
Political parties are invited to submit a list of their cadres who are being used as candidates for legislative members (calegs) until Sunday 14 May.
