Taking place the Saturday 6 May 2023, Row by ROLE: Hyatt 2 Hyatt is a community initiative that raises money for Bali’s long-standing ROLE foundation. Sports enthusiasts are invited to join an epic canoe/kayak ride from Sanur to Nusa Dua, cruising the coast of Bali for a good cause.
About the ROLE Foundation
THE ROLE Foundation (Standing for Rivers, oceans, lands and ecology) works to develop sustainable practices and solutions through their Zero Waste to Oceans center in Nusa Dua, where they conduct educational programs with local councils and schools, rallies of environmental groups, soap recycling programs, women’s weaving business development, cleaning of the beaches and more.
The other part of ROLE focuses on empowering women. BaliWISE (the program that Row for ROLE will be raising money for). Indonesian women Vocational education. It focuses on the education of marginalized women in Bali by equipping them with important knowledge skills that greatly enhance their employability. This is done with the understanding that giving women the opportunity to be breadwinners in their own families helps break a cycle of poverty.
Rowing for the right reasons
The event on Saturday 6 May 2023 will be the second iteration of Row for ROLE: Hyatt 2 Hyattco-organized by Right Reasons Funding.
The epic journey from Sanur to Nusa Dua goes from one Hyatt property to another: starting from the serene beaches in front Hyatt Regency BaliSanur, to the white sands of Nusa Dua opposite Grand Hyatt Bali. It is challenging and exhilarating 13km travely, which will take you past Serangan Island and Benoa Harbor.
This community initiative AND asking people to participate in this year’s long-distance canoe race along Bali’s stunning southeast coast – no mean feat, but the possibility of facing a real challenge AND raise money for a good cause here in Bali.
Of course, there are winners: Fastest Male, Fastest Female, Fastest Grom, and Biggest Fundraiser. So, for those with a competitive streak, this is definitely a great outlet. In 2022, the debut event Row for ROLE collected IDR 900,000,000 (~USD 60,000) for ROLE’s BaliWISE program, with 79 participants participating.
Once all attendees have finished, the event concludes at Grand Hyatt Baliwith a celebratory brunch and awards ceremony.

*Participants must raise a minimum of IDR 2,000,000 through their crowdfunding page. Those who have raised over IDR 5,000,000 (USD 330) will receive an exclusive BBQ dinner on Friday 5th May 2023 after the safety briefing at Hyatt Regency Bali, Sanur.
Safety: the organizing committee has taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the participants during the race, including emergency support boats, lifeguards and ambulance. Their team will also monitor the event closely and follow any guidelines set out by the local health and safety authorities to create a fun race for you.
Public: A livestream of the race is available for family and friends at the Grand Hyatt Bali, Nusa Dua where they can welcome all the final runners and join in the festivities.
