ON 26 and 27 May 2023the Bulgari Resort Bali will welcome Martin Villareal and Mohamed Rudi of the famous hotel in Singapore Forum of the Republic to shake things up a The Bulgari Bar. Ranked #12 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars of 2022, Republic’s cocktails are inspired by the influential pop culture hallmarks of the 1960s.
While the 1960s decade was marked by cultural and social revolution, it saw the rise of style icons and rock music legends, as well as the international jet set, which ushered in a sophisticated era for cocktails. As such, Republic Bar infuses the art, film, fashion and music of the era into their mixology creations. The decade is equally important for Singapore, with the Republic of Singapore declared independent on 9 August 1965, and thus some of the cocktails nod to Singaporean era icons. The bar also stocks up vintage spirits from the 60s, for those interested in absorbing some “liquid history”.
THE Bulgarian Symposia Mixologia will take place at The Bulgari Bar. Situated atop the limestone cliffs of Uluwatu, Bulgari Bar is the exclusive seating for the best show in Bali: the sunset over the Indian Ocean. The open lounge is sophisticated and welcoming. The bar’s elliptical arched counter recalls the black resin counter of the Bulgari Hotel in Milan, with a powerful center piece: a stone artwork sculpted by nature in the currents of a river.
Here, at this unique cliff-top venue, Republic Bar will whip up four of its signature drinks Fab Four, Georgette, Smoking Suit, each a nod to an influential hallmark of the decade. These will be prepared by Martin Villareal, Head Bartender of Republic.
Why the Bulgari-Republic collaboration? Well, the 1960s was an equally important decade in the history of Bulgari jewelry, where actresses like Elizabeth Taylor became synonymous with the jewelry collection. So, this homage to a decade through curated cocktails is definitely a celebration that both brands can drink to.
