AMPONTOONS.COM, JAKARTA – On Monday (22/5/2023), Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD was summoned by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Jakarta palace.
Mahfud MD was summoned as Plt Menkominfo.
Mahfud MD arrived around 10:50am WIB. He came out around 11.40 WIB.
“Today I am facing the president for a special agenda, namely my duties as Plt Menkominfo, I received the decree last Friday,” said Mahfud MD after meeting the president.

Mahfud MD said that since he was appointed Plt Menkominfo last weekend, he has conducted a thorough investigation into the alleged corruption case in the construction of a transceiver tower (BTS) station.
Furthermore, the duties of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology were also examined.
“I’ve reported and I’m ready to work,” he said.
Regarding the alleged corruption case of BTS, Mahfud MD said that he has analyzed a number of project documents.
The project, which is suspected of causing Rs 8 trillion in state losses, he said, had been planned for a long time with very important goals for the Indonesian people.
“So this is a long-planned BTS project and it is important to the Indonesian people and must be carried forward,” he concluded.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Menkoplhukam Mahfud MD as Interim Minister (Plt) of Communications and Information (Menkominfo).
Mahfud MD was named Acting Menkominfo to replace Johnny Plate, who was named a suspect by the Attorney General’s Office for alleged corruption in the construction of a Tower Base Transceiver Station (BTS).
“The interim minister is the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs,” Jokowi said before departing for Japan, at Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Base on Friday (19/5/2023).
The president said the government highly respects the legal process that applies to Johnny Plate, who is also a NasDem politician.
“Yes, we respect the legal process,” Jokowi said.
The president stressed that the Attorney General’s Office will be professional in handling the case. The Attorney General’s Office will openly disclose the case that would have cost the state Rp. 8 trillion.
“What is clear is that the Attorney General’s Office is resolutely professional and open to anything related to this case,” he said.
