AMPONTOONS.COM, JAKARTA – Defender and Under-22 national team captain Rizky Ridho is grateful for the three-game winning streak he and his colleagues achieved.
The reason is that these three early victories have become good capital for Garuda Nusantara – the nickname of the Indonesia U-22 national team, to watch the remaining Group A matches against hosts Cambodia.
Indra Sjafri’s team achieved three victories against the Philippines (3-0), Myanmar (5-0) and Timor Leste (3-0).
This achievement also took Indonesia to the top of the Group A table, as well as being the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2023 SEA Games.
The Indonesia U-22 national team will face Cambodia in a duel to take place at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh on Wednesday (5/10/2023).
“I am grateful for the results of yesterday’s three games. I hope that the victory we achieved makes us even better in the future and that we can go home with a gold medal. But we still do introspection because there are many things we need to fix,” Ridho said, quoted by the Persija website on Monday (8/5/2023).
Facing host Cambodia, Ridho admitted she was very excited about the match as it would be packed with home fans.
To sweep the group stage matches, the Persija Jakarta player also admitted he focused on maximum preparation.
“We will certainly focus on preparing our team rather than thinking about the home team. Of course we are even more excited because a lot of viewers came and of course I hope we will win again,” said Ridho.
