A perfect choice for families with small children –
Did you know that we have our own bees and beekeeper at The Lombok Lodge Private Villa Estate? Our own bees produce the honey which is served at breakfast and during the daily traditional afternoon tea and jamu services at our properties.
Together with Pak Nyoman, Beekeeper at The Lombok Lodge, I’m proud to introduce you to our newest guest activity, The Charm of the World of Bees!
APIOLOGY – THE ART OF BEEKEEPING
Beekeeping, also known as apiology, is an ancient tradition and practice that dates back to the 35th century BC Raising honey bees contributes to a healthy environment as these mysterious creatures are responsible for pollinating crops and plants.
The art of beekeeping requires skill and patience. A successful beekeeper will understand the balance of the bee colony and the health of the bees.
Today bees face several challenges which are also attributed to climate change. As pollinators, bees play a vital role in ecosystems as they support the growth of natural habitats where animals and other creatures can thrive. If bees ceased to exist, most animals and insects as we know them today would disappear. Without bees we would have no food on our plates.

THE SECRETS OF THE WORLD OF BEES
Discover the magic of these industrious and vital creatures by staying with us at The private villa estate, Gondang Beach. We organize daily workshops for our Villa Resident guests!
What would happen if there were no more bees? With the production of our ‘Madu Raja Trigona’ honey, The Lombok Lodge introduces its youngest guests and accompanies adults to the secrets of the world of bees and our environment.
In a 45-minute workshop, guests can join our local professional beekeeper Nyoman and learn more about the fascinating world of bees, honey production and what our “busy” bees need to create this super sweet temptation. greet.
The workshops will be held on the grounds of The Private Villa Estate, where the beehives are located. Although our bee colonies consist of stingless bees, the hotel will provide protective nets, hats and gloves for beekeepers.
Our beekeeping taster sessions last approximately 45 minutes and cover an introduction to beekeeping with our resident beekeeper Nyoman.
After an informative talk, there is an opportunity to get hands on with our own bees, bee protection nets will be provided. You will be taken to the garden of our hotel where some of our hives are located and you will be shown the inside of the hives and how the honey is made.
