Yangshuo is a county under the jurisdiction of Guilin Tourist City, Guangxi, China. Its popularity increases every year in addition to its beauty, the government is also actively adding various attractions to attract tourists from all over the world. Surrounded by karst mountains and the meandering Li River, this city is a must-see. In fact, there are many interesting things in Guilin, one of which is Yangshuo Shangri-La Park.
For Shangri-La Park in Yangshuo, don’t confuse it with a similar name. Because indeed many places are called Shangri-La in China. Everything else is Shangri-La in Yunan province, is the central location Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, bordering Sichuan county.
Why is a stop at Shangrila Yangshuo Park a must? According to the claims they have (the Chinese government intends), this tourist spot is located in the most beautiful part of the Long River valley. Natural panorama enriched by artificial gardens. Decorated with two bridges with romantic names – Bridge of Wind and Bridge of Rain.
Coupled with the ethnic buildings that line the waterways that tourists traverse, it doesn’t really feel like Shangri-La Park is actually a wildlife park with knick-knacks added here and there.

At first glance, it doesn’t really look like it’s a man-made tourist spot. Entering the area, with green willow trees around, clean lake, lotus flowers, village with ethnic houses and rice fields behind.
Willow tree branches, crystal clear hills and reflections in the water refresh your eyes. The water wheel rotates smoothly. Even the typical hills and local houses in the distance spoil the feeling.
Asal Nama Shangri-La
NO Shangri-La it is actually an imaginary place in Kunlun Mountains. First appears in a travel novel Lost Horizon, published in 1933 by British author James Hilton. Hilton describes Shangri-La as a mystical and harmonious valley, subtly removed from a monastery and enclosed. It is located at the western end of the Kunlun Mountains.
The term Shangri-La itself is synonymous with a utopian, beautiful, mystical place, a land whose inhabitants are always happy, but isolated from the outside world. In novel Lost Horizonthe people who live in Shangri-La live up to hundreds of years, never get sick and don’t age as fast as normal human beings.
People believe that the emergence and novel Lost Horizon can gain momentum due to the destruction of life after the world war. Public unrest in a time of social and political uncertainty, economic depression and the rise of fascism in Europe. Shangri-La is the answer to the imagination of humanity’s bleak future.
On the other hand, in depth ancient Tibetan scripturestold about a place called Nghe-Beyul Khembalung. Khembalung is one of many beyuls, hidden places similar to Shangri-La. Buddhists believe Padmasambhava they have been building it since the 9th century. Intended as a beautiful and sacred shrine for Buddhists during times of turmoil or war.
Yangshuo Shangri-La Park
So this is the background why this natural scenery in Yangshuo is called Yangshuo Shangri-La Park. by lake, Li River and large karst peaks as a backdrop, romanticized in Taman Shangri-Laa beautiful area that will make anyone happy.

And indeed I am very happy to be able to have a picnic at Shangrila Park. Particularly amazed by its natural forms. Since you arrive in Yangshuo, every time you cross the road, sharp hills appear everywhere that seem to grow out of the rock.
The first sight visitors will come across is a pavilion called Peach Pavilion. We cross a narrow path shaded by willows. Here waiting to queue at the boat around the lake. Hello we will go to the dock Swallow lakewhich is none other than the largest tributary of Sungai Yu Long.
In each boat there is a guide. They are girls who come from a local tribe. Unfortunately they are overconfident, they don’t speak English. Though she skimmed at various points along the cruise, those of us who don’t understand Mandarin are forced to nod.
What to expect on this YangShuo park cruise in Guilin, China?

This cruise also takes us to enjoy the scenery in a water cave called Cave of the Swallows. This cave has a legendary history. Connected with the name Shangri-La and people with life. I tell you in the video, please watch it until it’s done 🙂
During the cruise, from the shores of the lake we will also be entertained by girls in colorful costumes of ethnic minorities. They sang, danced and greeted the tourists.
The entire lake is divided into three parts: Outer Lake, Inner Lake, and Back Lake. On the lake stands a complex of traditional buildings connected by two bridges called Ponte del Vento and Ponte della Pioggia.
Across the bridge and along the sidewalk, and it’s a bit dim when viewed from the boat there are three of them Totem. These oddly carved stone pillars represent the primitive local religion and culture that is still practiced today by the minority communities in the area. The totem, in my opinion, is similar to the property Asmat tribe in Papua.
The boat cruise lasts approximately 25 minutes.
